September Season

The clouds looked like elephants

My sunset stroll was robed in elegance

Late September finally showing face

But the verdant leaves have yet to give way

They hold subtle signs of wrinkling

But I long to hear them underfoot crinkling

To everything there is a season

Early fall gray clouds

Summer cumulonimbous shrouds

The cells of my skin

The many neighborhood dogs barkin’

Many have passed on

Like springtime bright green lawns

I yearn to be in this season

The one I’m in

I watch the elephant clouds march

And say a prayer in my heart

To the tune of the movements in my abdomen

As I wait for new life to happen

The crows fly over

The night owl is a loner

Nothing is stagnant

The pretty sky is for my eyes a magnet

I walk, as the pale blue heavens shifts to lavender and pink

Then like pale yellow tissue paper the sun sinks

I’m grateful for the less humid air

Soon enough it’s dark

I think back to the place I embarked

The neighborhood in an hour is as if I was never there
