My Princess

I wonder where we’ll be in a year

I wonder if all my insecurities will have disappeared

I envision myself a strong fortress, a defender, a warrior

You, a princess

I’ll do anything for

You’ll probably be oblivious to the monsters outside the door

Over time I imagine you’ll show me they’re not even real

In no time we’ll be in the front yard doing cart wheels

I’m sure your hair will be bright blonde like me and your father’s was when we were little

And we can’t wait to hear you giggle

The way time’s moving, you’ll be grown soon

Take time to look at the stars and the moon

There’s ample time for everything

Wait for your king

You are precious

Don’t sweat life’s messes

Come on, let’s grow and explore

You’re already loved and known

Got me out of my comfort zone

.Into the wilderness

In time we’ll welcome you

Let me pack for now, my princess
