I’m Gonna Bring You with Me

We don’t need to go to the grocery store

And malls are obsolete

Kids don’t hang out, anyway

I’m happy to have you, for sure

For a moment you’ll be small and weak

I’ll hold you for a few days

Life always goes on – for those who are alive

We’re meant to explore and thrive

On the coastline, on bike rides

On long runs over the bridge

So I’ll bring you with me

I want you to have every gift

We’ll read stories

And make our own

Covered in Golden retriever fur

Just like the sweet pup, you’ll soon enough be grown

Because this life is surely a blink

Time is water going down the sink

Our paths are waterways

Crossing, connecting over several days

There’s an end, you’ll see, my dear

But what if it’s more of a returning, a transitioning

Just like all the flowers and birds in spring

For as long as I can

I’m going to bring you with me
