Seeing You

I’m not sure at what point you’ll seem real

You’ve always been imagined

But two months ago, you happened

There was definitely some appeal

The Lord’s perfect timing

I relinquished all my worry and trying

Nothing is perfect, I’m finding

You’ll hear people say the world today is a different place

That it’s not safe

Was it ever?

Tohu va-vohu

Some days it seems we’re still living there

But don’t worry, kid, and don’t be scared

I’m in awe just looking at you – my first peek today

Your little heart was just beatin’ away

Your arms are just sprouting

You’re cushioned

In a few months, you might feel some pushin’

Let’s let the future be just that

You’ll realize everyone’s got an opinion

I hope to teach you early that this is all the Creator’s dominion

And He’s never surprised

He’s the One who’s put the light in your eyes

I’m thinking of you

And all the cool stuff you’ll do

And of who you’ll be

You’re a miracle, a little shrimp, a mystery

I’m watching you bud as your life begins

And I hate to break it to you, but you’ll probably see mine end

I’ll be there for you – no strings attached

Remember, despite what people tell you, there is nothing new

This world’s been crazily spinning a long time

Please do me this, kid: don’t forget to laugh
