Heavy Sleep

My eyelids were 30-pound dumbbells

Those peanut butter chocolate bars had cast their spells

It was freezing outside, the snowflakes were large

My bed was a barge

My limbs were noodles

I’d been drugged

Long ago, I’d unplugged

So I made my way to the bedroom

My legs gave way

I tripped over the broom
The barge took off without me

But the hardwood floor was still lovely

I was so tired, I melted into a puddle

My Golden retriever didn’t mind, he lay down beside me to cuddle

12 hours later, I awoke

The dumbbells were gone

And my limbs were strong

My pup gave my shirt a tug

We took on the day

Sleep is a super drug
