My Orange Seed

You’ve already changed everything

For the better

You are the letter – to my former and future self

Oh, just in the past 72 hours – the excitement me and your father have felt

Though you’re just the size of an orange seed

We’re giving you everything you need

I want you to know you’re wanted

Always know that

All your days have been foretold

You’re part of a great history that continues to unfold

Don’t fear mean people or skeletons

There’s nothing new, kid

But I can’t wait for you to see the ocean for the first time

We’ll go often

You’ll love where we live

You’ll be forever mine

Though I’ve learned it’s unwise to hold anything too tightly

Remember, kid, that God is mighty

You’re a miracle

So is everyone else

And everyone, even mean persons, are someone’s baby

It’s freezing now and you’re just a few weeks old

The future is uncertain and there’s a lot to unfold

We’re both standing behind a curtain

Time has never been slower

Me and my husband (your father) went to the beach today

We talked endlessly of how we look forward to seeing you in October
