It might look like a 4-year-old put up the Christmas lights
But I figure – eh, that’s alright
It’s already been two years since I’ve had my artificial tree
It’s true what the old people used to always tell me
That time goes by fast
I always kinda thought it would wait for me
But the rats in the attic got hungry
I’m looking for something that will last
Is age just a number?
The rats seemed to think my old Christmas ornaments were plunder
Christmas 2026 will be here next week
I’m ready for the adventure – what do you think?
Can you be here by next year?
We can hang snowflakes from the roof like the kid across the street does
And we can watch Muppets then go to the beach when it’s cold just because
Or we can do whatever fun thing you envision
Because now I can envision you
My husband can too
The multicolored lights on the porch railings are brighter than ever
I hope you’ll be here by next Christmas
Meeting you, living life with you
What could be better?
