Spousal Attraction

You were sitting across from me in your pullover fleece

Your workplace emblem sat on the left side of your chest

The way you talk and listen always puts me at ease

As I looked into your blue eyes I thought about how you’re the best

We’ve been at this for 12 years now

I never regret that I gave you my vows

You know, some people just kind-of tolerate their spouse

But I still get butterflies when you wink at me and say, “I’ll see ya back at the house”

I’d meet you for lunch anywhere

And into those blue eyes I could forever stare

You’ve got me dreaming

About a little Jake or Virginia

Our lives are happening, babe

And I’m forever grateful that you came my way

We’ve been around the full circle

Age is just another hurdle

Abraham and Sarah

You’re always one to ask Why not?

And in an instant you rearrange all my plots

We’re surfers, we’re climbers, we’re sojourners

Here, hold my hand

Let’s run away together

Nah, let’s stay right here in familiar land – our hometown

We like to circle ‘round

Our workplaces and restaurants are still the same

There’s still some life left to claim

So, come here, my groom

Let’s make room

Forever I want to dine with you

The sun got low and I got cold

You pulled off your fleece, gave it to me

And I told you, “Sure, I love you but I also like you”
