Your Sovereignty

I’m trying to crack the code

Sure, we’ve got brains for it

But there’s some things I’ll probably never really know

I’m realizing this is life

It’s not tomorrow or 5 years from now

My dog knows this

For him, this very moment is always ripe

I like watching it

Every second is a gift

I’ve been reading ancient genealogies

Is there a spot for all of us?

Probably

Some would say it’s just mythology

But I’m engrossed lately by a common theme

Your sovereignty

Around me, you’re a shield

In my dog, in the clouds, in the bay

You’re revealed

I get some hope

But sometimes I get depressed when I go to Wal-Mart

I definitely didn’t go today because it was the first

Maybe all the evil bothers me because it’s in my own heart

It seems like only the great outdoors hold the mirth

So me and my dog went for a hike

All the people in the stores and all the falling leaves

My dog and me

We’re all somewhere I suppose in the grand genealogy

Well, count me in

Because I can’t get out

You’re showing me that every human is royalty

Like glittering leaves

But we’re all inevitably falling

Yet I think about your loyalty

You’ve got us all, including me

The seasons are on repeat

I’m trying to find my spot in history

One thing I know: You are sovereign

And I trust You

So count me in
