Camouflage on the Beach

There’s sand in my iced coffee

And some added sea salt on the edge of the cup

I took a sip after my pup came out of the bay and had a lick

But I wouldn’t say he’s at fault

The weatherman had said it was going to rain today

But we headed to the beach anyway

Creamy-blonde-golden-sandy

On a cloudy day in autumn, the coast is candy

My iced coffee, salty and sweet

Is just like my Golden retriever

I love the feel of the warm sand beneath my feet

If it weren’t for my green t-shirt and black shorts, we’d be invisible

My skin and hair, my pup’s coat, my coffee all blend into the sand

It seems sensible

In fall, the coast is a wonderland

The trees just over the dunes are turning

Like the waves churning

It’s neat to be camouflage

Sometimes I do think, anyway, this life’s just a mirage

It’s like heaven wants to touch the sea

As rainclouds build

I sense a chill

And I sip the coffee

The color of the clouds match the waves

My dog romps about

And I’m in a daze

The sun peaks through

The sky turns orangey-blue

It’s a collage

Me and my pup sip some iced coffee

His whole snout fits into the cup – it’s sabotage

We’re both blonde

It’s autumn on the coast

We’re caffeinated

Frolicking, invigorated

Where heaven and earth bond

We’re camouflage

It’s what I love most!
