Old Country

I’m not sure what happened to country music

The new “hot” songs just leave me feeling ick

Singing about booze and bars – whiskey and beer

Leaves me wondering where the old artists are

The new ones try to serenade something pretty

But it’s pain to my ears

Cheap love and convenience

Desperate tunes

Rap-pop-hip-hop-twang

Can you believe it?

I haven’t even seen the music videos

I don’t want to know – how bad it is

Uuuuhh!

Girls in water

Break ups and bottles

No tractors these days, nah, just pick up trucks

Yuck!

Where are the old good tunes?

About slow, patient love that’s everlasting

And those melancholy lyrics that ponder time passing

Of marriage and friendship

I miss it!

All my old country favorites – my friends in low places

Thankfully it’s easy to go back and visit them

Just not on the radio

I’ve got to ask Alexa – she knows

And when old Alan Jackson or Tim McGraw or George Strait come on

Me and my husband who fell in love to those tunes – gladly sing along
