The Spirit’s Fruit

Summer is upon us

It’s got me thinking about fruit

Fruit essentially comes from the ground

And so do we

Looking around, it seems the world needs something sweet

Maybe some refreshing watermelon or an orange

Instead of all the yellin’ and scourgin’

And maybe some color like that of blueberries or raspberries

Instead of something dark and scary

Bananas? Dates?

What do you think?

There’s also fruit of the Spirit

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control

Ah, if only these could take hold!

How many of them did I eat this week? Any??

Of anxiety, depression, worry, fear, panic, insecurity, hate, rushing – there is plenty

Just hop on the interstate or answer the phone

What’s on your plate?

Look at the bank statements or your schedule

It ain’t cool

Eat some fruit, be a fruit

Peace might be my favorite, I want to plant it in the garden

Then I think some goodness could get started

You’ll radiate and be cute

Delightful, too

Let the Spirit rest in you

How I need it too!
