Don’t Fear Evil

In one of my favorite songs, the guy sings so encouragingly, “Don’t let evil get you down”

It’s like a Psalm

But when wickedness runs wild, how does one keep calm?

I like to preach mercy and forgiveness

But a mean comment or the thought of taking someone out is often my knee-jerk reaction

Anger takes hold with a passion

God is my witness

He knows my heart, and that of everyone else, even evildoers

We’re all coded, like computers

But overrun by a virus

Darkness has ensued

Hell invites us, everyone

What was designed for good came undone

The Lord works out everything to its proper end, even the wicked for a day of disaster (Proverbs 16:4)

Whose side am I on?

What about you?

Have you examined the Beatitudes?

Your heart is darker than you think

God knows your motives when you wink

Don’t get even

Pray, watch yourself, keep believing

Everything will be revealed

All the weasels, the dirtbags, the scum, the vipers

There’s a category for each of us

We’re like faulty tires

Examine your own heart when evil meets you

We are all capable

But trust that God is faithful

He WILL work it all out

Every deed will be brought to account
