Internet Letdown

Women’s haircut ideas online

Show women’s printed-on faces that shine

Perfect hair

I went to the salon lokoing for it but it wasn’t there

Just like that cookie recipe

The one that left my husband hungry

And I followed the directions

That blazer online I wanted to buy

Didn’t do anything to accentuate my thighs

And the puppy expo that was advertised

Left my pup with a wistful sigh

Nothing online lives up to the hype

Is it all a lie?

Like politicians

The internet is full of fiction

My unruly hair, my husband’s sugar cravings, my pup’s insatiable tooth

Turns out Pinterest and even the best salons and recipes can’t fix us

So where do we stare? We all need saving, it’s the truth

I close the laptop, finally, and go outside

Think of the scriptures I’ve memorized

And I look to the trees, the skies

Turns out there’s nothing wrong with my eyes or hair

There’s no one here to compare

I’ve got all I need

Out in nature

Thinking about my Savior

Among the trees
