Seahawk

If only I could be like that sea bird

Sitting atop the pine

At sunrise

Unperturbed

Like an old timer

Looking down at a million facts on paper

Knowing what to tackle now and what to save for later

To understand how it all connects

To not always be overwhelmed by what’s next

My eyes could scan and my head could swivel

If I could watch it all from above, maybe I could relax a little

How much of my food would I steal

How much have I stolen?

Maybe all the knowledge would wear me out

Ironically I might lose my clout

For now, the skyline is golden

For both that seahawk up there

And me down here on the sidewalk

I’ll never have it all sorted out

So I just stand and admire the seahawk
