Colorful Nature Walk

I could ramble on about yesterday’s rain – it was like a waterspout

A deluge from some dark blue clouds

But me and my pup still got out

We drove one mile up to Lakewood Park

Though the sky was dark, we strolled

I was happy the rain wasn’t cold

We walked behind the baseball fields

The chain link fences around them act as shields

From the world, from kids, from traffic on the main road

Back there, one can hear a toad

We trotted through the park to the other side – the prestigious Lakewood neighborhood

How spectacular to walk along people’s front yard gardens

It was so good!

Despite walking in a rainstorm

A bed of multi-colored tulips stood

And verdant-green striped leaves poked out

Pink, white, fuchsia, purple azalea bush flowers formed

White dogwoods stretched out to us as we walked by

Pink-white pedals of cherry blossoms exploded

Pearly-blue hydrangeas waved to us

None of this glorious nature is sugar-coated

We walked the quiet streets beyond the park

Let nature leave her mark

And we stayed, despite the rain

I’m so happy I got away: from my desk, from the screens, from everything

To escape to the green with my pup

His golden fur was a nice touch

To the colorful portrait of our rainy nature walk
