The Open Window

Will you leave the window open so I can look outside?

Up till now you know I’ve been trying to hide

It’s scary out there

It’s cold too

When it snows, there’s snow on everything

I admit this is a little embarrassing but I’ll sometimes look out a different window to see if anything’s changed

I’m not always sure of what to do

Or who to blame

Seasons shift

From wool hats to bicycles to scarves

Each one’s a gift

I know it in my heart

Am I an imposter up to bat?

The ocean is still outside my window

And that faithful sunrise

Will I sit and watch forever inside?

One thing I know:

You love me

Can you keep the window open a little longer so I can see?

You know, caves have no doors, no windows

Just one way in and one way out

You’re a lantern, always sweet and gentle, removing my doubt

I’m stepping through

Coming alive with a vision

Full of faith and over the moon to see what You’ll do

Thanks for keeping the window open
