Pastel

You were wearing pastel colors and you matched the sky

As the sun faded, we talked

I didn’t want to say goodbye

You’d been running a long time

I finally caught up to you

Asked you there by the river if you wanted to run

You simply said everything was coming undone

Your black hair stood out like the trees against the sky

Lavender, soft pink, light blue – oh, the view

You took off, dipped out like the sun

I stood alone by the river in my dream

In the wake of a fatality

The water mirrored my face

The heavens above, reality
