Mushrooms

My love for you is like those mushrooms

Affection in full color, devotion in full bloom

Taking over the neighborhood

And to the disc golf course

Far beyond where it should

Little orange saucers on stools

Taking over, in full force

Soft white caps in a collection

A bunch of bundles in a field

Amber, white, glowing like a million jewels

They’re everywhere – my affection

Growing overnight

Expanding, glowing, shining bright

In all the places you’d never expect

Even after the lawnmower slashes

On the dreariest days, I’m stickin’ out my neck to get to you

I’m breaking through

Formidable, standing in the madness

Budding, blooming, waiting – like a faithful groom

My love for you is like the mushrooms
