4:52

We were lying there in the dark

4:52 am

My phone screen lit up like a spark when I touched it

I thought I heard you  – “ehem, ehem”

Turns out you were awake too

I wonder if the Golden retriever between us knew

He was upside down, stretched out on his back

I gave his belly a scratch

You started talking about your fear: losing your job

I was talking about the bright year

We got out of bed together at 5

And over coffee we talked about God

With you I’m so happy to be alive

We don’t need more money

Your love and friendship are enough for me

In this small house with the wood floors

This dog – our beloved baby

I’m happy to do the chores

As long as I can laugh with you

And wake up together at 4:52

It’s not too early for us to talk about anything

Dreams

Tell me yours

You can talk to me even while you sleep

For the rest of our lives

You, this place, this pup

The God we’re trying to know – ever a surprise

Like you, pleasant

This is my keep
