Did you see the lights coming
Were those scooters humming
I imagine you under the moonlight
Laughing and joking with your bride
What’d y’all do that day
Did you have a clue when you made your way
Had there been a lot of planning up to that point
At 72, how were your joints
Was there an unforeseen bump
Or something that made you swerve
Did you jump
I doubt you lost your nerve
Two weeks ago
The local headlines delivered a tragic blow
A call to your family
I still see you standing
In the bleachers like you did some 20-years ago
Spelling it out to a bunch of 6th graders to be aggressive
Your obituary was quite impressive
Your faith – a cornerstone
Many were glad you didn’t go alone
No, I think you were living life aggressively
What did you see around the bend
A good time, a ship, a friend?
I won’t know
But I still hear you chanting, “BE A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E”
You instilled a spark
And though the world may now seem a little dark
I’m convinced that where you are there is a glow
You and your bride in eternal light
A reward for a life lived in aggressive love
A life lived right
