Pasta

You said you made the sauce extra saucy

I’d asked if you’d cook dinner but I didn’t mean to sound bossy

You also swept the floor and washed the dishes

You did all the chores

You know, you hold all my wishes

You said you like our house

Remember when we used to dream of this

Just being alone together

The other night we were too cold to cuddle

Our feet were like ice

But for a moment we huddled

It was really nice

We giggled then went to bed

The pasta tonight was so good

Chocolate for dessert

Married for 10 years

Everyone’s gone away

The world spins but you and I are inert

Eating our spaghetti, huddling within our walls

You’re the one who gets me

You’re always around when no one else calls

We keep the heat set low

But in your eyes I still see a glow

Thanks for loving me

My heart is warm, my stomach fed, my soul nurtured

I can’t think of a single reason to ever leave
