Blaaahhh

We had a paint party

You simply painted a word in black

For an English teacher it was pretty apt

I thought you might paint a runner or the sky in summer

But hardly

It was just a word on that small wooden block

Now I look at it in between glancing at the clock

Blaaahhh

Wondering where the time went

Wondering if that’s how you felt

Sometimes that painting hanging there echoes my own sentiment

Nearly mid-life now

Is the luster fading

It’s interesting what we come up with when it’s time for creating

The seasons have shifted like paint strokes on canvas

I heard a new song yesterday that reminded me of us

Are any tunes fading

Or are the old ones still playing

Are you painting in color

Imagining any sunrises, mountains, races, or surprises

Don’t let mean words turn your vision into a blur

Don’t give in to the blaaahhh

We’ve gotta keep the ha ha

And the aha!

Like little kids

Or two women in their youth

I’m taking up my paintbrush

Putting color on the canvas

Even if it’s not looking how we planned it

I’m still looking for the truth

Painting, creating, running, praying for you

Aha!
