Billy & Finn

There’s a new puppy on my block

I saw him last night on my walk

He’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen

Aside from my own pup, of course, when he was young

It was amazing to see how cells replicated and a year later a 100-pound Golden retriever was sprung

Last night we walked and talked to that puppy

And got to play too

Little Finn found my fingers something pleasant to chew

Those little jagged puppy teeth

And that fuzzy white fur

Two light brown spots above that wiry tail

A little 10-pounder next to my giant Billy

All of us playing in the grass

It was a blur and purely thrilling

In the neighbor’s front yard

The scene could have been a greeting card

Pups never fail to make me appreciate life

Billy was gentle and nice

He knew to look out for the little guy

Finn built his confidence

Billy loved the different scents

Like two little kids

A 5-year-old Golden and a baby Great Pyrenees

Cuddly cuteness, what a tease

But I found myself in the middle of it

Some women stop for purses, others for Target

But dogs are my market

At the park, in a neighbor’s yard, on TV, in my dreams

These creatures are so wonderful to me

Each day Finn grows

And Billy and I stop – Billy shows him the ropes

Finn’s mom says he’ll go to the vet for his shots this week

Then he and Billy can walk together

I wonder what adventures those two will have

Tongues hanging out sideways – a dog’s laugh

Billy and Finn

They’ll play their games

Let the adventure begin!

I still don’t know Finn’s mama’s name
