Puppy Wispies

My dog is beautiful

All strangers and neighbors say so

Our neighborhood strolls are never dull

“That is one handsome golden retriever” I was told

His coat is gold

Looks like an artist painted in some highlights

On his belly and in his tail the fur is white

Amber ears

Wild strands that sprout

Curly cues frame that loveable face

A yellow snout

Little delicate eyelashes over those imploring brown eyes

Thick puppy mane around his neck and chest

His front legs are adorned with spikey furs

But so soft

He’s got a bushy tail with long feathers

Shadows in that coat

Glistening whatever the weather

The fur on his sides twirls

Reminds me of a chocolate-vanilla-caramel ice cream swirl

Or the brown-white Lifesavers

How many times has this creature saved me?

His puppy kisses I savor

He sparkles when he prances in the streets

Those puppy wispies glow while he sleeps

He dazzles my eyes

That puppy coat and personality shines

The best painting – real life

Even better than his coat is his unconditional love

Surrounded in wispies

I love this pup
