Unveiling the Past

There’s some things I didn’t see before

Meaningless expressions uncovered now – full of meaning

Actions in the dark

Monsters seething

I’m a lot older now

And I can stand in the park

I can look under the bed

I see the idle cars

I watch today’s kids run

I stare at the stars

It’s true the past can’t be undone

Maybe I can study it

Unveil history that’s been shunned

Continue to see

Or for the first time see

Uncork the shaken bottle

I better not dawdle

Explore the feelings as they explode

It’s disturbing looking at the truth

Makes me wonder if I ever knew you

But we have hope in the present: healing
