Marital Bliss

You have me laughing at the worst times

In the line-up, during prayer

I can’t stay within the lines

I watch you wobbling in yoga class

Whether you’re a half moon or a warrior

A cat or a cow

I’m sure: I want you with me everywhere

Right now

Running our races

With short hair

Tacky sweaters

I’m chuckling the whole way

Even through knee surgery

Landlordship

In the worst of it

I want you everyday

You’ll find the sunlight in the storm

Your jokes are a fire in the winter

I’m forever warm

With you beside me

No other I’d rather split coffee with

No other I’d want to accompany me in the pit

I can smile while we wobble

And laugh when we pray

For in life, even in death

In sickness, in health,

There’s a way

Our friendship – what wealth

You’ve made me gloat

More than I could have expected

What a cistern, what a well

Our union

Nothing better than this as far as I can tell

I’m wholly ecstatic

Yet it keeps getting better

Every day, in every way

Always merry

I’m forever happy

Because we’re married

Laughing at the best moments

You’re with me
