It’s Your Life

Make your life what you want

If you find yourself complaining, stop and reflect

Ask, “Why am I bored, angry, sad?”

For it’d be a shame to look back and regret the life you had

I used to make sandwiches for six dollars an hour

When I was sixteen

I’m glad I listened to my parents when they told me to stay in school

For it’s true – knowledge is power

And ignorance is more costly than education

I stepped up and worked at a nursing home for $10 an hour

The work was tough. Sour.

I toiled through nursing school

Glad I did

Worked in the hospital for more money

Still the real world left me feeling like a dummy

I was complaining a lot so went to school again

Got my master’s degree

Now I work as a doctor. At least I pretend.

Do people like me?

Does it matter?

I’ve driven myself half mad caring about the trivial, the senseless chatter.

I’m not bored or mad

Restless? Maybe

For this time is precious and it’s fading fast

I’ve gotta make it count

So at least here’s a poem to get some type of heart-felt message out

We’re here to live

To reflect the Creator

He’s fun and brilliant

Exquisite

He came and made it count

Whatever you want, go get it

Whether your hour’s worth 50 dollars or 10

You can’t live it again

Do what’s on your script

Don’t complain

Make a change
