Writer’s Block

There’s a block in my way

It’s invisible

But I know it’s there

Just like air

Every day

It stands in my path

And makes me miserable

Maybe it’s why I clean the house

And run and read

Looking for motivation or inspiration

Trying to wiggle around the frustration

But I’m left still dreaming

About the day I climb over the block

And move beyond just believing there’s something within

A story to tell

A novel to begin

Better yet,

Smashing the block to get to the end

A half-marathon calls me

And the laundry pile beckons

Despite the distractions around me

I’ll keep trekking

I’ll use this block to help build a bridge

Here it goes

I’m going to finish

Just one piece today

Chipping slowly at the obstacle in my way

This may be a crappy first draft

But I won’t take it back

Creativity – something – is now in stock

Time to laugh

I’ve conquered writer’s block
